Currently typing this review from Cinque Terre, Italy whilst using this portable wifi!I’m a solo traveller so this thing is the best thing that’s ever happened on my solo travels! As much as I love getting lost in a foreign country/city, I can always rely on my U3 to help me find my way back to my hotel. I can stay connected with my family and friends back home and update my social media literally wherever I am!The only good/bad thing though is that when I’m country hopping, the device sometimes gets “confused” as to where I actually am. It takes a few minutes and a few tries to establish connection but it works wonderfully thereafter! It worked perfectly in Spain, France, Monaco, and Italy!Please buy this product!!!

This thing is convenient, as you can use a local sim - or buy one of the Golocalme e-sims. The golocalme packages are more expensive, but in my opinion they provide a bit faster and more reliable coverage. We travel to the US a lot from Canada and use this both with a physical SIM (bought from Amazon), as well as golocalme packages (depending on where we are - as sometimes the physical sim coverage is not the best). We slip it in our pocket and take it to the beach as a hotspot (as small as a cellphone). We've found it very reliable across the US and over 2 years of use. Not rocket speeds....but fairly reliable (and cheap for periodic travelers). It acts as our RV wifi.

We bought this when our home internet was down and in need of parts we had to wait for.

It was easy to set up and use; we had to contact them to get the free 8mb activated and they responded immediately. We also did a speed test and got a 30+ upload speed.

The battery does not last a full day, maybe 4-6 hours, I have not been really tracking it.

Pleased with this purchase.

I purchased this so I could work remotely in Guyana, as the internet/power where I stay is not reliable.

I purchased the GlocalMe package, 30 days 30gb, and logged onto my computer. Can't handle zoom calls AT ALL. My video was constantly freezing and there's a huge delay in audio. Takes forever to load anything. If I knew this, I'd have just hot spotted off my phone like I've done previously 🤦‍♀️ trying to work with customer service to rectify, but I cannot recommend.

Update: today July 8, 2022, with the major nationwide mobile Network down of a giant Canadian telecom carrier, my local data SIM using on this network with a lower rate did not connect. I then switched to use the "cloud SIM" in the U3 and it quickly search for an alternative 4G network although it is at a lower signal level in my area! Anyway, I can continue to have my data on!
That is definitely a bonus convenience for there is no limit of a dedicated roaming carrier.

I like that it can accept a local SIM card. I tried my other vendor's global data SIM in the U3, it allows me to choose between their cloud SIM and my local data SIM as they cliamed. A great convenience while travel.
The wifi performance is great! I left it in the living room and I can get a good connection and wifi speed within my house upstairs and in the basement.

Battery life is good, 5 hours use only consume 50%, I believe it can last for at least 10 hours.

Purchase data plan is within the App or in your computer connected to their website and at finger tip, so convenient and have many choices to fit my need.

I tested on buying a one day local data plan (saved the free global plan for my travel) and put the hotspot in my backpack, hiking in the mountain, it maintained good mobile data connections for most of time. It did not show which carrier network you are on but I believe it can select the best carrier for you.

I got average 15-50 mbps download and 2-10 mbps upload while connected to 4G network most of the time.

I also tried to switch to my local data SIM and after reboot, it took on my SIM and show it is connected to the local data SIM carrier and stop using their plan. They have different usage counters for their plan and my own data SIM depending which is in use. This provide me a great convenience to use a lower cost local data SIM to save me money if I keep staying in a location for extended days.

Downside is not much you can play with the wifi LAN settings, e.g. Set your local LAN DHCP IP address range, no port forwarding setting, no firewall setting, etc.

I shall travel to USA next month and will see if it is compatible with the various carriers down there using the free global data plan come with the unit.

the loading time can be slow sometimes, but most of the time is perfectly fine. Only one thing is sometimes when I test the wifi I can see the server is not from Canada, but actually coming from Taiwan. And other times its from Canada. I wish it was always from Canada because when its from farther countries it makes the signal a bit slow. Only downloading things on it is a hassle because they sometimes dont download or take so long to. But overall, its great, browsing internet, texting, perfectly fine. Not too slow. Thank you!

This gadget is quick and easy to set up. Customer support is an email, chat message away and they responded quickly. There can be delays in the device connecting to a signal which is a downside and sometimes the signal gets dropped. But by and large it works well. Sure beats hunting around for an open wifi signal. We were in a cottage community where only 2 places had wifi that the public could use IF you could find someone to tell you the password. At tines we were running 4 devices off of the unit.

I've now used the GlocalMe U3 in the United States, Greece and England, using Sim2Roam sim chips, and both have worked fine in all three locations. I've had no issues with battery life, but I'm a light user (email and Google Maps). I would have given it five stars, except that the instructions for use with a third party sim card are minimal. I understand that GlocalMe would prefer you use their service to provide wifi, but don't we all want to save money where we can? In any event, having this device has saved me bags of money compared the the $16/day my Canadian cell provider wants to charge to use my domestic GB's when travelling.
