Our 20V MAX* XR 5-inch Brushless Cordless Random Orbital Sander provides the power and runtime needed to get the job done. A variable-speed dial provides ultimate speed control from 8,000 to 12,000 OPM for a variety of projects. One-handed locking dust bag attaches securely to the sander to aid in dust collection or the user can attach the wood sander directly to the DWV010 or DWV012 dust collectors. Its rubber overmold grip provides comfortable sanding. Replacing the 8-hole, hook-and-loop sanding paper is quick and easy. Battery and charger are sold separately.

I have begun a new project and I am sanding the old finish from the chair. I like this sander quite a bit. It gets into all but the tightest places, it is readily maneuverable and produces minimal dust even without a collector system. My only caveat is that with the 6AH battery attached, it becomes heavy over time. Perhaps using it more will fix that as my grip improves. Completely recommend.

This just works well. I like the long battery life. I use 4 or 5 amp hour batteries and the sanders lasts far past when I am ready to take a break. The dust collection is pretty efficient too. I have a DeWalt corded sander that I like but this cordless version is so much easier to use. No dragging a trailer that needs the deck sanded to where power is available, just put in a battery and go. It is built well and has survived several drops from about ten feet without issue. Also it leaves a good finish with none of the score marks some other sanders give you.

I've been wanting to get a wireless orbital sander for quite a while now, so I can get away from being limited by a cumbersome electrical cord. After looking and several different ones and reading multiple reviews, and because I already have at least a half dozen DeWalt 20 volt tools and mulitple batteries, I decided to get this one.

This tool is simply a joy to use. I love the way the velcro keeps the pad in place, and there is no more fuss attaching rectangular shaped paper to the old style sanders with those pesky wire springs. It also does a much better job in a lot less time than any of my previous corded orbital sanders... and that's no exaggeration. It's also lighter and a lot easier to maneuver than the old rectangular shaped sanders with handles. This one is easly guided by the palm of your hand and it does a superb job. I also love the way it stops instantly when switched off, so there is no more waiting several seconds for a sander to stop running before setting it down, and not more of that aggrivating feeling that my arm is vibrating for several minutes after turning off the tool. It also has a variable speed setting, which is a great added feature. I grabbed this for $99 a couple months ago and it was a super deal. Thank you, Amazon! Note that this is the bare tool only (no battery or charger included), which is no big deal because I have many DeWalt batteries and at least 3 or 4 chargers already.

Take it from a life-long wood worker who builds hardwood furniture and lots more, for a hobby. This tool needs to be in your shop. After the first time you use it, you'll feel like kicking yourself for not getting one sooner.

For larger projects, definitely get a 10AH, or at least a 6AH battery, so you aren't constantly stopping to charge and swap batteries. Or just save yourself the trouble and get the corded version. It's cheaper anyway. That being said, this is a great sander. DeWalt is the only power tool brand I'll use. They never disappoint and always get the job done

The sander works great. I appreciate the speed adjustment. The oscillation works better than the corded version. However, the battery does add weight to one side. I'm just a homeowner, not a tradesman, but I have been rebuilding my large, old home (100+ years) one room at a time, plus maintenance on a couple rental units, so I've been putting a lot of hours on a lot of tools for a lot of projects these past years.
Seems I have to replace a failed orbital sander every 8 or 10 years and when my last one (with a cord) slowly died a month ago, I found this. I already have a small pile of compatible cordless tools, a bunch of DeWalt batteries and even a few chargers, so this was a natural. After using it for a pretty full day just today refurbishing the original trim from an old doorway to reinstall on a new pocket door - lots of paint, caulk, burrs, cut edges to smooth, etc, this sander is a great upgrade! Powerful motor, spins up and down quickly. Strong. Respectable battery life. Adjustable speed is a nice new feature for me. Also, the pad holds Velcro sanding pads really securely, more so than my past units. Why didn't I get one of these sooner?! You won't regret it.

Gets into places where an electrical cord would be a huge problem.

I performed a detailed job in a very tight space using a small 2 AH battery for clearance. The battery still had lots of juice after.

I then needed it for a much larger job so I used a 5 AH battery. The extra inertial weight of the battery actually made the sander quite a bit more comfortable as there was less vibration feedback to my hand.

It is a solid and practical device. It is well designed, fun to use and an excellent value for the money.

Wer dieses Teil kauft muss sich im Klaren sein dass dies ein 20 Volt Gerät ist. Die 18 Volt Akkus passen zwar werden aber nicht sehr lange mit dem Gerät funktionieren. Zudem keine Garantie da aus den USA. Glücklicherweise keine Zollkosten zumindest bis jetzt. Dieses Teil sollte nicht in der EU oder Deutschland verkauft werden dürfen da es keinen Sinn macht aufgrund der unterschiedlichen Voltzahl und der Garantie. Mein Fehler dass ich das Teil bestellte aber es muss auch für den deutschen Markt sinnvoll sein. Wenn nur noch jeder alles verkaufen darf und kann ist die Entscheidung sich in einem Laden eines zu kaufen und vor allem sich dann die Zeit zu nehmen sinniger.
