Start with Minwax Pre-Stain to prevent streaks and blotches by penetrating the wood to promote uniform acceptance of oil-based stains and helps control the effects of grain raise. |
2 / StainApply Minwax Wood Finish stain to bare wood surfaces following label directions. Surface must be dry and free of wax, grease, polish, any foreign matter or old finishes in poor condition. Sand to a smooth, uniform surface and remove dust. Use a clean cloth, wood stain brush or foam applicator and apply in the direction of the grain. Wait 5-15 minutes and wipe away in the direction of the grain. Let dry completely. |
3 / ProtectStir well before and regularly during use. Do not shake. Apply a thin coat of Minwax Polyurethane Protective Finish. Apply in one direction with the grain. Do not over-brush. Let dry at least 2 hours then sand with very fine sandpaper (220 grit) to ensure an even finish and proper adhesion of additional coats. Remove all dust. |
